At 254 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Albany to 7 miles northwest of Rutland to 6 miles southeast of South Webster. Movement was east at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Athens, Jackson, Wellston, Point Pleasant, Gallipolis, Pomeroy, Oak Hill, Rio Grande, Albany, Coolville, Rutland, New Haven, Mason, Tuppers Plains, Gallia, Middleport, Chester, Syracuse, Hartford City, and Henderson. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.
