At 1119 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Kingston to near Nelsonville. Movement was east at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Athens, Nelsonville, Glouster, Chauncey, Buchtel, Jacksonville, Trimble, Amesville, Stroud Run State Park, and The Plains. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.
