What to Do During a Power Outage

Use this checklist before an emergency. During an active incident, local instructions take priority.

1. Use flashlights and keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed. Unplug sensitive equipment if safe.
2. Operate generators outdoors, well away from doors, windows and vents. Never run one in a garage or home.
3. Plan backup power for essential medical devices with your provider before an outage.
4. Stay clear of fallen lines. Use official utility updates and seek a safe cooling or warming location when needed.
